Nigerian Pop

by sam 20. January 2010 19:17

While everyone in the west listens to Joelene, this is what people in Africa are getting down to. Nigeria seems to be the music epicentre for African R n B right now: P square, D'banj, etc.

An amazing trascription of the lyrics can be found at http://museke.com/node/3935 . A sample is included below.

Evoid- South African Punk Rock from the 70's

by royce 19. January 2010 21:30

This is what it is and this song is pretty damn awesome. Apparently Evoid were the leaders in a white punk rock scene in Africa who were anti-apartheid and liked to paint their faces and use tribal rhythms in their songs.

Also, Pharrell makes furniture now, broaching themes such as intimacy (below) and war (here). He designed this molded plastic seat because he "wanted to know what it was like to be in love."

And, he got Takashi Murakami to make a ketchup bottle and six other simple things out of gold, rubies and diamonds. The gold flat thing at the front is a condom and to the left of the pepsi bottle is a packet of doritos.
